My last post.

Well, I think today I have to talk to you about my experience with this language. I want to start saying I don't like to have to learn English, I mean, I like English, but I don't like to be forced to learn it. I don't agree with that vision which says you must learn English because it's the "Universal Language", that's a lie invented by the "gringos" haha.

Okay, I have to say I like English classes, well, not always, but I really enjoy the first part of the class, because I can joke in English (well, I try...), and it's okay, because I'm talking in English hahaha, so I think it's a funny way to learn. But  I don't like using the blog, it has been the boring part of classes for me. I hate to sit down in front of the computer and have to write in English about a topic. In fact, there were a lot of times that classes finished and I had a headache… Although that I like some of the topics, like "the movies" or "the books", I don't like to write about it in English.

When I hear myself speaking in English, I can realize how bad I do it haha. I think I have to improve my vocabulary, but above all, I think I have to improve a lot my pronunciation, when I hear myself in the videos we have had to record, I really feel shame about my pronunciation haha, well, I think the only way to improve this skill is just speaking more.

The only times I use English outside the classes are when I sing some song in English or when I'm playing some videogames in that language haha, but nowadays I'm a little out of gaming, so I'm learning just in classes.

Technology addiction

Today I'm going to talk about a piece of news which is connected with my area of studies. I decided to write about technology addiction, because I know it's very common and it happens a lot, even me haha.

The article began telling us, that all of us have suffering the effects of technology addiction sometimes. Remember when you needed to study, but suddenly you received a text message and you could't ignore it, so you stopped studying and read the message, and you do it again after two minutes, and then again and again. Maybe you don't see a problem here, but, a study of the University of Kent found every time we lose concentration, we re-read a portion of text before we can find the point where we were reading, and each interruption cause an increase of 17% in the total time we use to read the whole passage. An easy way to help to decrease the time we use for return to the point we were reading is to write a mark in that point, so we reduce in a 10% the time we use to return.

There'll always be distractions, but we can help ourselves to avoid these distractions, like turning off our phones or our computer. We also can do some concentration exercises using thought control to concentrate in an image for a period of time, and when we notice that we had lost concentration, we have to come back to the image as soon as we can.

So, be strong, you can... haha =)

El lado oscuro del corazón

Well, today I'm gonna talk you about a movie I enjoyed, so lets start. I wasn't sure about which movie to talk about, because I wanted to talk about three movies, but I chose this one I saw in my house because a good friend told me about; "El lado oscuro del corazón".
This is an Argentinian drama film by director Eliseo Subiela and starring Darío Grandinetti. It's about a bohemian poet, who is constantly visit by "the dead" (in a woman's body of course haha) and who is looking for a woman different to the rest, in his own words "a woman who can fly". I can't tell you more about it because I don't want to tell you the movie haha.
I like this movie because the script is based on Mario Benedetti, Juan Gelman and Oliverio Girondo's texts and it has a beautiful an amazing way to show us a story, and also because Mario Benedetti has a little participation seducing a woman in a bar, reciting a poem in german language haha, it's very funny.
My favourite part of this movie is when the main character meets with the "different" girl he was looking for in the beach, and they have a dialogue where every answer is Mario Benedetti's haikus, it's beautiful. Well, I love Benedetti as you can see, haha.

Politic

"... MI ABUELO ERA UN HOMBRE MUY VALIENTE
                                          SOLO LE TENÍA MIEDO A
LOS BOLUDOS. UN DÍA LE PREGUNTÉ:
                                                                               - ¿POR QUÉ? Y ME DIJO:
                                                                               - PORQUE SON MUCHOS, ¡NO HAY FORMA DE CUBRIR SEMEJANTE FRENTE!
POR TEMPRANO QUE TE LEVANTES, ADONDE VAYAS ¡YA ESTÁ LLENO DE
BOLUDOS! Y SON PELIGROSOS, PORQUE AL SER  MAYORÍA ELIGEN HASTA
                                                                               EL PRESIDENTE..."

Facundo Cabral

Well, I'm part of the 60% of people who didn't vote last elections, maybe because of lazy, yes, it's true, but because I have serious contradictions in my way to see the politic, too. By one side, I believe in a society where all the people could participate and all the voices should be listened, but, by other side, I think it's difficult to hear all the voices with respect and tolerance and accept the majority's opinions, because today the majority's opinion is easily influenced, and it can be awful, I mean, we (well, not me, but, I'm speaking for Chile haha) chose Sebastian Piñera as President haha, so, you can see how the majority's opinion can be a huge mistake sometimes. Well, sometimes I feel if I vote for another option, who is not the worst option, I will be voting for the "least of the evils" and I don't think it's right, so I prefer to don't vote.
As you can see, I have a lot of contradictions in my way to see the politic, but I think the greatest contradiction I have it's to believe a better world is possible, and, by the other side, to think that anything, whatever I do, can change. I mean, sometimes I think I can make changes working with the people, and strengthening myself and them, and creating a united voice together. But sometimes I feel the system will always find the way to manipulate all the information and defeats us.
Anyway, I still have hopes..

My first guitar =)

This has been one of the most important presents that someone has given to me. If I remember well, my grandmother gave me a little guitar when I was eight or nine years old, I think it wasn't in my birthday, actually, I don't remember the reason.

It wasn't a normal guitar, it was a "kid size" guitar and it was very useful because the size let me play better and more comfortable (when I say "better", you have to imagine I played horrible in that time haha).

I used that guitar since I got it three or four years ago .There was another guitar in my house, but I loved this one and I liked to play it, so, as you can see, it was really important to me.

A few years ago, my sister told me she wanted to learn to play guitar, and she wanted to use that guitar, because she has tiny hands and it was very comfortable to her, so I decided (with a lot of pain in my soul and my heart) to lend her my guitar.

Last year I bought a new guitar, who is my partner now (haha), but sometimes I want to go to my sister's house and bring my tiny guitar back to me, because I know it has to be in some dark place, with not use, and  covered in dust :C .

First day

If I remember well, I felt very strange at the beginning of my first day at university, because I was going to know a lot of people who could become an important part of my life in the future, that is to say now, and because I was going to study something I didn't know very much about, in fact, I decided to study psychology the same day of the applications, so, as you can see, it all was new for me haha.

I remember that day I met Rocío, in an activity where all the students had to talk with another one, in pairs (and now we are good friends =)  ), and then we had to present our partner to the rest of the group..... that kind of activities that psychologists invent haha.... but it let me know a nice friend.

I remember the first classes were exiting, because the teachers were presenting to me a lot of interesting new things, but along the time, I have realized that not everything that glitters is gold, but although that, I like what I study.

When I decided to study psychology I knew that it would't be the only stuff I was going to study, because I really want to learn and study music someday, so I hope I can do it in the future.

Esteban

Today I'm gonna talk to you about a friend, Charly García.... haha, no, it's a joke, we are not so close with Charly, although we hang out together sometimes.

Well, speaking seriously, I would like to introduce you a nice friend of mine, Esteban. I met Esteban at school, I know him since we were 6 years old, and we were classmates until we finished school. He is a very quiet man, who loves peace and overcoat he loves music, in fact, he's studying "composition" in Universidad Católica.

I think the music is what we have in common. I remember when we were in school we had a band together in a music workshop. Until then, Esteban hasn't show real interest in music, but he realized his love for the music while we were in that workshop. After that, his skills took off and now he's a person who knows a lot of music and spends the most of his time doing music.

There was a time that we met three or four times in a year, but now I meet Esteban every week, because he's teaching me music theory and sol-fa. Although we both love music, we listen totally different styles of music; he likes classical, and I like trova, rock, bossa nova and popular music; but the things he teach me can be used in every style.

A strange term

2012 has been an stranger year, because the first term was very different than others. In that term, I had five subjects at the University, one less than other terms, and they represented five areas of psychology: clinical, communitarian, educational, industrial-organizational, and forensic. Well, I have to admit that term was very demotivating because all the areas looked bad haha, but now, this term, I have a better vision of my career and I feel surer about my decision.

Well, the first term I did not just study, I played guitar, played football, hanged out with friends, enjoyed live music... in fact, I spent more time in that activities than studying haha, no, I'm just kidding, I mean I spent a lot of time in that activities, but obviously not more than studying (sure, obviously...).

There was a terrible and painful moment in the first term; it was the death of a great person and musician, Luis Alberto Spinetta, one of the fathers of Argentina's Rock. But the first term had some unforgettable moments too.I was in Fito Paez's concert and it was amazing. Also, I was in Charly García's concert, where he reviewed all of his career as a musician, since he started in Sui Generis.

Santiago

Well, I was born in Santiago, and I have lived all of my life here, so I think I have an unconditional love for this city. Here I have lived good and bad times, tiny and big happiness moments, and moments of sadness too, but what I want to say is that I have "lived" here, I'm not talking about to spend time in a place, I'm talking about to live.

I like technology, and Santiago is one of the most technological cities in Chile, but I it doesn't make up for the lack of green areas and peace. If you like to party and have fun, Santiago it's a great place to do that, because you can find a lot of places where to hang out with friends and party, but you have to be careful, because there's a lot of delinquency too.

Santiago is considered like the centre of Chile by some people, well, I disagree with that. Santiago has a lot of services, communication and a lot of work too, but we can't forget that Santiago also has a lot of stress and delinquency. I really like to have hospitals and schools near the place I live, but it's horrible to have to spend a lot of time to get there, because of the traffic.

I would like Santiago to have a better environment, about the green areas and also about the people. The people are always in a hurry and stressed, I think that's because they have to work a lot and they don't have enough rest.

I love this city, but I think it lacks peace and happiness.

The crime of the truth

The Wikileaks founder, Julian Assange (who has been granted asylum in the Ecuador embassy, in West London) gave a speech aimed to all the people who follow him and invited USA government to stop the hunt against Wikileaks.

I think the only crime that Assange has made, is show us the truth. Some Institutions and organizations, like FBI, don’t want the people know the truth, because they are afraid of people know all them secret and discover some things that will deteriorate the FBI image.

I think Ecuatiorians were right when they decided to offer Assange political assignment, because, although they can get into a big problem with USA government, they are not just defending a man, they are defending the truth, and all the people should defend the truth.

I don’t know how the case will end. Maybe the USA government will catch him and they will sentence Assange to go to prison, or maybe they will sentence to death. But I think we must join forces and together …
